Year 6

On this page there are examples and images of some of the personification poems which the pupils have written in Year 6.

Soft, dusty ghosts hang from window panes slowly drifting in the warm summers breath.

Dark wooden planks cover up forgotten windows. The soft melody of a songbird echoes through the broken castle from outside in the weed-coated jungle.

Lost leaves, left by their trees lie on an old wooden floor, adding to a black canvas. Shadows dance across the house as black leaves lay unwoken by footsteps.

Gold strips of honey flood the floor from old cracks in the damp walls. A few items telling the story of the lost lives lie on the ground flooding it with memories.

The Morning

The pale white door coughs and splutters as it opens its tired eyes.

The rusty metal gate yawns and swings on its old rotten hinge.

The tall dark lampposts blink as they flicker out.

The old cracked road gobbles up the children as they slowly trudge to school.

The satellite discs dance in excitement as they are going to a new home.

The beach smiles as the children arrive.

The sea's cold arms stroke the sands rough hair.

The waves foamy grin smiles and giggles as its deep blue coat ripples in the winds breezy breath.

The sea's strong fists jab the rock's hard backs.

Many little pebbles skip gleefully up the golden blanket of beach.

The sun's happy face looks down past the frolicking clouds to the bobbing boats and reaches down its bright warm arms to protect them.

The blue sheet of sky flaps gently as it watches the night creep closer.

Tears fall from the cloud's eyes, as they tremble with laughter.

The rainbow stretches its colourful arms to stop the children's hair getting wet.

The sun umbrellas crawl sleepily into their sheds.

The sun yawns as it falls into bed.

The moon stretches as it takes its place in the sky and whistles for the childish stars.
